Having a baby is quite an adventure! It’s such an amazing experience, but at the same time very overwhelming. There’s so much to do and learn and you need all these little things to take care of your baby. As first-time parents, we wish we had known all that we know now before our baby was born. We thought we were doing a pretty good job, but are now realizing some things are overlooked. But no worries, it can be done! We’ve tried to cover what you'll want for your baby at home (baby supplies). For many of these items, it's a question of what you'll want or need. It's a matter of personal preference and your baby's needs.

 

Here are our favorite things for newborns:

 

Baby Carrier:

A carrier is essential for keeping your hands free while you care for your newborn. Options range from wraps that cradle newborns to soft structured carriers that adjust as your baby grows.

Hats:

Keep their heads warm when they nap in their car seat or stroller with a hat. Choose one with a brim to keep the sun out of their eyes during outdoor playtime in warmer weather. This can be a cute and stylish accessory and protect their little heads from the sun.

Blankets:

Blankets are great for swaddling and covering, but they can also be used to soothe your baby or to help them feel snug and secure at nap time. When you wrap them up in a blanket, they get that warmth and comfort that they need. In buying blankets please take note that many baby blankets can harbor dangerous chemicals like formaldehyde; it's safer to find natural fibers like bamboo or muslin.

Socks:

Newborns' feet are so tiny, so stick to the tiniest socks you can find. If your baby is born in the wintertime, they will need some booties. These will prevent their feet from becoming cold and getting chapped. Socks are great for cold weather or when you go outside. They fit well under the smallest shoes, and they will keep their feet warm when it is time to head out.

Sleepsacks:

These are great for keeping your baby warm at night without the risk of blankets, or for naps during warmer weather. It is great for the baby to be able to move around without fussing with blankets or getting tangled up. They are also very convenient and your baby will look adorable in theirs! They are easy to put on, come in different sizes, and can be worn in different places throughout the house.

Crib:

A crib is the centerpiece of any nursery and will play a large role in helping your child feel at home when she wakes in the middle of the night. Make sure you choose one that will provide a secure place to sleep, something we can all agree on is important when we’ve had enough sleep. A newborn will sleep in a crib for the first 4 months to a year of their lives. It's even possible for them to sleep in it until they are 2 or 3 years old.

Crib mattress:

There are several different kinds of crib mattresses out there, but safety should always be paramount. Many parents prefer memory foam mattresses because they're often made without chemicals or fire retardants. If you want something more conventional, high-density foam is another great option.

 

Slipper:

These shoes are made for newborns and make it easier for them to walk around. They don't hurt their feet and they protect their little toes from getting hurt. Slippers are perfect for keeping them warm while keeping them safe.
